Today I am sharing my CopyCat Shamrock Milkshake recipe with all of you. It’s that time of year again when the Shamrock Milkshake hits the menu line up at McDonald’s. St Patrick’s Day mint milkshakes are always one of my favorite items to score at McD’s this time of year. I can end up spending a small fortune taking the whole family to enjoy a Shamrock milkshake. This year the kiddos spotted the Shamrock shake was on the menu again when we had a fast food night for dinner this past weekend. I decided that we would make our own CopyCat Shamrock Milkshake at home and save a bit of cash. I knew making them at home could not be too difficult and it wasn’t. The kids and hubby thought this Shamrock Milkshake recipe really was a close one to the McDonald’s shake they have grown to love over the past few years.
CopyCat Shamrock Milkshake
Just grab a few ingredients from the grocery and whip up some Shamrock Shakes at home! I did find my Mint Extract at Remke (could not locate it at Kroger) so you may need to hunt for it or I think peppermint would work too!
INGREDIENTS
1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup Half and Half
5 drops Mint Extract
4 drops Green Food Coloring
Whipped cream (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Combine ice cream, half and half, mint extract and food coloring in a blender and puree for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Optionally top with whipped cream.
Do you get excited when Shamrock shakes hit the McDonald’s menu too? These CopyCat Shamrock Shakes will cure your cravings for those tasty mint milkshakes all year long!

Gotta Love Shamrock Milkshakes. Be sure to grab your mint at Remke if you have none on hand. Remke has been great with finding spices and hard to find items. I couldn’t believe Kroger did not have any (they do not even carry it). Let me know how yours turn out.
These are a family favorite; I can’t wait to make them at home. Thanks for sharing at Mix it up Monday and congratulations, they’re being featured today!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can NOT wait to try this, I am a sucker for the Shamrock Shake and I can’t wait every single year for it to show up and make my day!
In fact, I went last night and got my first one (of the year) and had quite an amazing “pay it forward” experience, here’s the link if you want to read about it:

Could I use peppermint extract, instead of mint? Is there a big difference?
Thank you,
Hope
Hi Hope! You sure can! Just sub in the peppermint as it should create the same flavor. I think I will give it a try tonight to see how it stacks up to the pure mint. Let me know how yours tastes. Have a great weekend.
I should really try this. I love mint! I’m featuring you this week for Friday Favorites!
Thank you, Jen! You just insured me Best Mommy on Earth Status in my neighborhood! My 23 year old lactose intolerant son lives for Shamrock Shakes! My 18 year old lactose intolerant daughter and I will be breaking our legs to get the 100 miles from our home to his, stopping at the store by his home for a couple of bottles of “eat dairy without dying” pills and the ingredients for your Shamrock Shakes! You Rock!
