This quick and easy Peppermint Milkshake will have you having holiday spirit after your first sip.  I am loving on this peppermint milkshake this holiday season. Peppermint is just one of those flavors that just makes any day feel like the holidays. This past week we have been making up many peppermint yummies and I had seen an advertisement for peppermint milkshakes. The thought “hey I can make that” immediately popped into my head. I dropped by Kroger to pick up a few things and decided to grab some ice cream. We have not had ice cream in quite sometime so I was thinking a nice holiday ice cream treat would be fabulous. I was right on with this choice. The kiddos chipped in and scooped their own ice cream and enjoyed making their own shakes. I honestly do not think we have had the shake machine out of the pantry since summer.

The restaurants charge a small fortune for just adding some flavor to their milkshakes. I personally think it is a crime, ha ha! Just grab some peppermint extract from your pantry (or they carry it Peppermint at the Dollar Store if you do not have any on hand) and add some to your ice cream. Splash in a bit of milk and mix yourself up a holiday shake right at home.

    INGREDIENTS:
3 large scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
    1/2 tsp Peppermint Extract
    1 Candy Can Crushed
    3/4 cup Milk
    Whipped Cream (optional)

    Peppermint-Milkshake-2

    DIRECTIONS:
Mix ice cream, milk and peppermint extract in blender or milkshake maker until blended.
Top with whipped cream (optional) and crushed candy cane.

I personally like my ice cream treats later in the evening (is that something that comes with age? ha ha) just like my grandfather did. These shakes will not only be a great budget friendly treat, they will also be lighter on your budget than purchasing at the restaurants.  You can even top off your Peppermint Milkshake with some crushed candy canes or Starlights. I think the candy really dresses them up and makes them more festive.
