Creamy Pea Salad

During the summer months, we eat lots of different summer salads. We use our grill about 5 times per week. We like to enjoy the summer with bbq’s and great picnic foods. By summers end, we are usually tired of our basic pasta and potato salads. Last summer, I made this fabulous Creamy Pea Salad. It was an immediate hit at our family grill out.

My kiddos were asking for me to make this one again this summer. They love our Loaded Potato Salad but wanted something a bit different. Now… these kiddos are not huge pea fans but they really like this salad. Since it is loaded with bacon, cheese, red onion, and a little bit of creamy dressing, the flavors just compliment each other so well.

You will need 2 packages of frozen peas. You will want to let them thaw. You can fry up some bacon or buy some fully cooked bacon to speed up the process. I used a red onion you could use white or none if your family despises onions, lol. I used a sharp cheddar cheese in ours because it is our favorite cheese. You could use a mild or any other type cheese that you think you would like.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE CREAMY PEA SALAD

4 cup Frozen Peas, thawed
10 slices cooked Bacon
1/2 Red Onion
8 oz Cheddar Cheese
1 tbsp Mayonnaise
1/3 cup Sour Cream

1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/4 tsp Sugar

  2. The picture showing ingredients has sour cream and mayonnaise, yet the recipe itself does not. Do you use it in the dressing?

    1. Hi Lynda! Thanks for the heads up that the sour cream was missing. I had my hubby load up the recipe and he forgot that line, lol. All fixed now:)

  3. Why in the creamy pea salad is there a sour cream container in the picture of ingredients? I didn’t know if it was left out of the recipe.
