These Homemade Graham Crackers are super simple and so much better than store bought. You can enjoy them by themselves for a snack or even make some homemade s’mores to enjoy.

    Homemade Graham Crackers

I occasionally decide to make the kids snack crackers at home from scratch. I admit it can be fun. We have made our Homemade Cheez-It’s Recipe quite a bit. I can make up a couple batches of snacks and toss them in zipper bags for the kids to pack in their lunches. Having snack backs on hand in the summer is a must for us since we are on the go so much more often.

I will usually buy a few boxes of graham crackers per week to feed this crew. They will snack on them in-between meals. But during the summer, we usually buy graham crackers more often for the kiddos to enjoy s’mores.

Homemade graham crackers are so simple and require very little effort. I made a couple batches in no time. You will just need whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, brown sugar, honey, butter, cinnamon, and baking soda. So simple.

Gradually add in flour and wheat flour alternating between them until incorporated.
Roll out dough between sheets of wax or parchment paper to about 1/8″ thickness.
Cut/score into individual cracker sizes and use a skewer or toothpick to make holes in the crackers.
Place in freezer for 30 minutes to harden.
Line a cookie sheet with silicone or parchment paper.
    Preheat oven to 350.
Separate cookies and place on prepared sheet.
Bake until crackers begin to brown, about 10 minutes.

Graham crackers so tasty and quite healthy to snack on. I enjoy them with peanut butter and bananas for breakfast quite often.

Excited to try these, kind of disappointed that there is no indication of how many it makes…. Also, the directions don’t tell you when you add the baking soda

Just wondering if I can use only all purpose flour, instead of the 2 flours.

What is wheat flour? Do you mean whole wheat flour? I’m not sure we have it in my country. Any substitute?

I was impressed, especially given that I made these for my son and I am, myself, not a huge fan of graham crackers. They were addicting! I added baking soda to the butter and sugar mix at the beginning, and I liked them a little underbaked for just a bit softer texture.

Most cookie recipes you can whisk it (and any salt) into the all-purpose flour before you mix it into the dough. You do NOT want to find a little lump in your cookie. It’s very sour on it’s own, but you won’t taste the leavener once it’s mixed with flour.

Good luck baking! You can do it!

These turned out perfect. There not too sweet. I wanted smaller Graham crackers so that they could be used in a desert so I made my own. Using a pizza cutter made cutting very easy. Using these to make Smores sandwhiches for a pot luck. I made homemade marshmallows and sandwich between the crackers then dip them half in melted chocolate. These are a great summer treat even if there is no fire .

Is the “dough” just supposed to be a bowl of graham cracker crumbs? I triple checked my measurements before I mixed it all up, so I know I got the right amounts. I was expecting an actual dough.

I just added water to mine little by little till it all stuck to together- because I had a bowl full of crumbs, too. I was so confused. I just took them out the oven and they taste good! If I guess I added about 6-8 tablespoons of water one by one.

My questions would be, “Instead of forming them into crackers, can I just press the batter into a spring form pan and use it as my crust for cheesecake? If so, then should I bake that first then the cheesecake as usual, or would I need to bake both at the same time?”

Can you substitute graham flour for the flours? Does that alter the other ingredients?

At what stage does the baking soda get mixed in? I can guess but I would prefer not to.

Thank you in advance for your answer

Thank you so much for this Graham Cracker recipe. I left America years ago and these were my favourite biscuit. I haven’t been able to purchase them here in Australia, not for the lack of trying. All my family over here are Australian born and have never tasted much of American food.I have got a Pumpkin Pie recipe I make often, some of the family like it.
      Thank you again.

      Sandra
