These Maraschino Cherry Kiss Cookies make for a perfect Christmas Cookie. They are loaded with great Maraschino flavor and kissed with a Hershey Kiss.
Maraschino Cherry Kiss Cookies
The holiday season is arriving. We love baking during the holiday season. We make all sorts of Christmas themed treats, candies, fudge, and of course cookies.
I have made these Maraschino Cherry Cookies the past couple of years. These pictures were actually taken last holiday season and I forgot to share them with all of you. We load these cookies up with lots of cherries, cherry juice, and then top them with a Hershey Kiss. I normally make them with just red cherries. This year, I plan to grab a jar of green cherries and make a green version too.
I am anxious to get started baking. We like to have holiday cookies on hand during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, very traditional for our family. I am making a batch of our Reese’s Cookies today because we have a bunch of Reese’s Miniatures leftover from our Halloween candy dish. So, our holiday baking is underway.
To make these adorable Maraschino Cherry Cookies, you will need some basic fridge and pantry ingredients, a jar of maraschino cherries, and some Hershey Kiss candies. I did use some red food coloring in our cookies.
1 cup slightly softened Butter
1 cup Powdered Sugar
2 tsp Maraschino Cherry liquid
Red Food Coloring
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
2 1/4 cup Flour
10 oz jar Maraschino Cherries
2 tbsp Sugar
36 unwrapped Hershey kisses
Preheat the oven to 325.
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Remove cherries from liquid and chop. Reserve 2 teaspoons of liquid.
Cream the butter with a mixer.
Gradually add powdered sugar.
Add 2 teaspoons cherry liquid, red food coloring to reach desired shade and vanilla and mix.
Gradually add flour and mix until combined.
Add cherries and mix until distributed.
Shape into 1″ balls and place the balls on a prepared sheet leaving space all around.
Press gently down on center of cookie to flatten.
Sprinkle each with a sugar.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until the bottoms are beginning to brown.
Remove from oven and lightly press a kiss into the middle of each.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
