My husband LOVES fruit on top of his ice cream sundaes and also as a cheesecake topping. The store-bought jars work but homemade pineapple sauce is so much better and also cheaper. During the summer months we quite often make homemade Banana Splits and also homemade sundaes. So this fruit topping recipe is made quite often this time fo year.

  2. Add sugar and cornstarch and then whisk to combine.
  3. Cook over medium-low heat until dissolved and syrup begins to thicken (about 5 minutes).
  4. Next, add in pineapple and continue to cook over medium-low heat for about 12-15 minutes, until sauce has thickened further.
  5. Allow to cool before serving or storing in the fridge.

    Delicious… I did add a pinch of salt and once it finished cooking a dash of fresh lemon juice to brighten it up just a touch.
