Butter Swim Biscuits Ingredients

These Butter Swim Biscuits use a short list of pantry staple ingredients. If you do any home cooking, you’ll probably have all of these ingredients on hand already- you’ll just need to get some buttermilk too. Here’s all you need for our Easy Butter Biscuits:

Butter Swim Biscuits Ingredients
  • Flour – All-purpose flour will work perfectly fine here and is what we used.
  • Baking Powder – Note, this is not baking soda. Don’t make that mistake!
  • Sugar – White granulated sugar will work best here.
  • Salt
  • Butter – salted or unsalted will be fine.
  • Buttermilk – Can’t make buttermilk biscuits without buttermilk, right? For a quick buttermilk substitute, add two tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice to two cups of whole milk- it should work in a pinch.

Flour, Baking Soda, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl with whisk.

  • Use a knife or the edge of the spatula to cut the dough into 9 square pieces.

Storage / Freezing

Storage: You’ll want to keep your leftover Swim Butter Biscuits in the fridge for best results. Let cool completely before transferring to an airtight container or ziploc bag. Your biscuits will keep for 3-5 days in the refrigerator.

Freezing: You can also try keeping your homemade biscuits frozen for longer storage. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil or put in a freezer bag and squeeze the excess air out before keeping in the freezer. Expect them to last 2-3 months- reheat in the microwave or in the oven.
