King’s Hawaiian Cheese Danish Ingredients

Our King’s Hawaiian Cheese Danish recipe doesn’t need any fancy ingredients- if you make plenty of desserts, you’ll probably have all the ingredients already. Outside of the Hawaiian rolls, you’ll need some fridge and pantry staples. Here’s everything you’ll use for this Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish recipe:

  • King’s Hawaiian Rolls – A 12-count sheet of these, unbaked, and all still stuck together.
  • Butter
  • Brown Sugar – I use light brown.
  • Cinnamon – Just for a bit of added baking spice flavor is all.
  • Cream Cheese – You’ll want to let your cream cheese soften before use. Be sure to use a full fat. I have not tried this recipe with whipped cream cheese or the reduced fat version.
  • Egg
  • Sugar – White granulated sugar this time.
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Pie Filling – You can go with a store-bought or homemade cherry pie filling like we did. You could also try using other pie fillings like homemade Raspberry Filling or our Homemade Apple Pie Filling if you cut the apples small enough.
  • Powdered Sugar – For a quick icing at the end, which you’ll make with…
  • Milk

How to make King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish

Slider rolls on a baking sheet with knife.

In case you were worried at all, this King’s Hawaiian Cheese Danish recipe is so easy to make. Using these King’s Hawaiian rolls really helps cut down on the prep time, and we used a simple cream cheese filling to make this a quick dessert or breakfast recipe. Here’s all you’ll end up doing:

  • Remove Hawaiian rolls from their package and the included tray. If worried about sticking, grease or line a baking sheet with parchment before setting rolls on sheet. Use a small bread knife or steak knife to cut a hole through the top and most of the way through each roll. Remove and discard the tops (or possibly incorporate them into another recipe).

  • Crack open your pie filling and top each roll with a small spoonful of pie filling. If you use cherries, aim to get at least one cherry into each roll. Optionally: top with toppings after baking.
Fruit added to the top of each sweet roll.
  • Transfer baking sheet with rolls to an awaiting 375 degree oven and bake for around 20 minutes or until the cheesecake filling has set. While rolls cool, prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle icing over cooled cheese danishes.
