Cool Whip Fruit Dip Ingredients
I mentioned that this Cool Whip Fruit Dip Recipe requires just 3 simple ingredients. And, since this recipe is made without marshmallow fluff, you may not even need a trip to the grocery store. Here’s all the ingredients you’ll need:
- Cream Cheese – Make sure you let your cream cheese soften before starting this recipe. I typically grab mine from the fridge about 30-45 minutes before I am ready to make our dip recipes.
- Powdered Sugar – Or confectioner’s sugar, caster sugar, or whatever else you might call it.
- Cool Whip – Of course, you can also use any store brand frozen whipped topping if that’s all you can get your hands on. Let this thaw before use.

How to make Fruit Dip with Cool Whip
Making this Cool Whip Fruit Dip is so simple and easy. If you would like, you could make this a stand mixer recipe and just let it do most of the work for you! Whatever tools you’re using, here’s what you have to do:
- Start by adding your cream cheese to a large mixing bowl. Grab an electric beater or hand mixer and beat cream cheese until fluffy.
- Once the cream cheese fluffs up, evenly add in your powdered sugar.
- Grab the beater or mixer and beat the sugar and cream cheese mixture together. Beat until well blended and the result is a creamy texture.
- Add the thawed frozen whipped topping to the bowl and use a rubber spatula to fold the cream cheese mixture and topping together. Once folded together, transfer to a serving dish and keep in the fridge until you’re ready to serve with your fresh fruits.
Substitutions / Variations
Considering our Cool Whip Fruit Dip recipe uses just 3 ingredients, it’s hard to make any substitutions without really altering the taste and texture. Still, if you wanted some other fruit dip recipe ideas pretty close to our Fruit Dip with Cool Whip here, give these ideas a try:
- Fruit Dip with Marshmallow Fluff – We did our recipe for Fruit Dip without marshmallow fluff because we like it that way. Using sugar and Cool Whip keeps it more airy and fluffy. Still, you can turn this into a 2 Ingredient Fruit Dip by dropping the Cool Whip and sugar in favor of marshmallow fluff or marshmallow cream.
- Strawberry Cool Whip Fruit Dip – There’s also plenty of ways to add more fruity flavors to your Fruit Dip recipe. For example, instead of using powdered sugar, you can use strawberry jello mix or even a strawberry cream cheese.
- Yogurt Fruit Dip – If you don’t like cream cheese, you could try subbing it out for a yogurt instead. Like with the Strawberry Fruit Dip idea above, you can also flavor these Yogurt Fruit Dip recipes with jello powder or pudding mix. Just mix the yogurt with your flavor mix of choice and fold together with Cool Whip.
- Vanilla Fruit Dip – Considering a splash of vanilla extract to give your fruit dip a bit of a vanilla flavor.
Storage / Freezing
Storage: Another great thing about our Fruit Dip with cream cheese and cool whip recipe is that it will hold up in the fridge really well! Transfer your Dip to an airtight container for best results and keep in the fridge. Expect it to stay good for 6-7 days- cream cheese and Cool Whip are good for up to 2 weeks, but your dip will probably lose a lot of its fluffiness before then.
Freezing: If you want to try keeping it for longer, you can give keeping your Fruit Dip frozen a try. Make sure you’re using an airtight container that is freezer-safe before transferring leftovers to the freezer. Expect them to last 1-2 months: thaw in the fridge before serving, and note that freezing cream cheese can make it a bit grainy when thawed.
Recipe Tip
Completely fold in the Cool Whip Topping, being careful to not over beat.
