How to make Chocolate Banana Bread
-
Mix your wet and dry ingredients separately before mixing into a batter. Fold in some of your chocolate chips.
-
Transfer the batter to a lined loaf pan and top with remaining chocolate chips.
-
Bake banana bread batter in a 350 degree oven for about an hour or until a toothpick poked into the middle pulls clean. Let cool before slicing and serving.
Let’s deal with the wet ingredients first. In a bowl, thoroughly mash your bananas with a fork before adding in your butter and oil. Use your fork to mash and mix the bananas and fats together until combined.
After that, add in the sugars, the egg, and your vanilla extract. Mix those until combined well.
In a seperate bowl, whisk together all your dry ingredients. Once mixed, add the dry ingredients to your wet and get to mixing- but make sure you don’t over-mix the two together!
Now let’s add some of our chocolate chips: once the batter just starts coming together, pitch in most of your chocolate chips and fold them into the batter.
With your batter all mixed up, we can finally transfer it to a lined loaf pan for baking. Before sending your loaf into an awaiting 350 degree oven, top it with your leftover chocolate chips. Now it’s time to bake!
At 350 degrees, it’ll likely take about an hour for your banana loaf to bake. Everyone’s oven is different, though, so keep an eye on it and start checking if it’s done around the 45-50 minute mark. Once your loaf finishes baking, let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing to finish cooling. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
How long is Banana Bread good for?
Like always, try to keep your chocolate banana bread in some sort of air-tight container, bag, or wrapper to help it last longer. At room temperature, banana bread stays fresh for about 4 days before it starts to dry out. You can keep it tasting fresh for up to a week if store properly in the fridge. For longer-term storage, consider freezing: wrap the loaf tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil before putting in the freezer. For best quality, try to defrost and reheat within 1-2 months.
