If you are a fan of Tacos you are going to fall in love with this Walking Tacos Recipe. I am super excited to share this fun taco idea with all of you. My family eats tacos once or twice per week (we have one kiddo who is addicted, ha ha). Are you wondering what on earth is a Walking Taco? You can find Walking Tacos at different festivals, fairs and carnivals during the summer months. Basically it is a taco inside of a bag of chips. Perfect for having for a meal, picnic or great for entertaining food. Everyone can carry and eat their tacos with no mess.
Fair Food at Home Week: Walking Tacos Recipe
My kiddo LOVE these things (and so do mom and dad). I really like that there is no dirty plates for me to clean up.
The flavor of the chips mixed in with all of your favorite Taco toppings is perfect. Sort of like a Taco Salad but even better! We plan to stage these at my daughters graduation party this summer. We will set up a mini Taco bar with bags of chips for everyone to create their own Walking Tacos.
I am HUGE fan of trying different foods at the fairs and festivals. I have a ball just testing out all the great fair foods. In the past I have only been able to enjoy fair foods during the summer months. Now we give them a try at home to save $$’s. I shared our Fair Food at home Funnel Cakes Recipe and our Fair Food at Home Mini Corn Dog Recipe but this Walking Tacos Recipe is a great one to use all year long when making tacos.
Making this Walking Tacos Recipe is quite simple. You just grab bags of Doritos, Fritos or even Cool Ranch Doritos, your favorite Taco Meat and favorite Taco Toppings. Also, if you are in a hurry you could purchase cans of chili to use for the meat instead of making taco meat.
1 1/2 lb Ground Beef
2 tbsp Taco Seasoning You can see my Taco Seasoning Mix Recipe Here.
7 Lunch size bags Nacho Doritos, Cool Ranch Doritos and/or Fritos
Sour Cream, etc.
Brown ground beef and drain.
Add seasoning and 1/4 cup water.
Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Gently crush chips in each bag.
Open top and roll down edges of bag.
Add a meat and cheese and your favorite toppings and gently toss with a plastic fork.
