If you are a fan of Tacos you will love this Taco Lettuce Wrap Recipe. Yesterday was my son Damien’s Birthday and he like the other kiddos is a huge Taco fan. We usually treat the kids to a nice dinner out for their birthdays or allow them to choose dinner. Since he had chose an expensive iPhone for his birthday gift he had to choose dinner from home and he chose tacos (not a shocker, ha ha).
Taco Lettuce Wraps Recipe
Last week while enjoying lunch with my aunt at a local Mexican Restaurant I noticed Taco Lettuce Wraps on the menu. I was tempted to order them up but chose not to. The hubby and I have been gaining way to much weight lately so we decided to make them at home for ourselves. My hubby was totally opposed and commented that he was not a rabbit, ha ha. But as soon as he gave these Taco Lettuce Wraps a test he decided that they were pretty good. The crunch from the Romain lettuce mixed with the taco meat, cheese, tomatoes and green onions worked perfectly.
If you are also looking to try an alternative to a flour or corn tortilla the Romaine Lettuce option is perfect. Hold them just like you do a regular taco.
I did not force my kiddos to eat the lettuce tacos this time. I just had them give them a try. To their amazement they really liked them as well. So the next time we are making tacos it will be a Taco Lettuce Wrap dinner. The ingredients are so simple and you can add in some beans or even some tortilla chips on the side if you like.
