Slow Cooker American Goulash

With a big family to feed, we’re always on the lookout for filling and flavorful recipes that’ll feed a crowd. Goulash is a favorite of ours because you can whip it up as a One Pot American Goulash or whip it up easily in a CrockPot or slow cooker! We’re especially big fans of this slow cooker method. It’s low-effort since the slow cooker does most of the work and the long cook time creates plenty of flavor! It’s always a good dinner night at our house when goulash is on the menu.

Ingredients to make Goulash

How to make Goulash

First things first, we need to get all of our ingredients prepped. Get your veggies sliced and diced and get your ground beef into a skillet on the stovetop. We’re going to let that brown until no pink remains.

Ground beef cooked in a pan

Once you’ve browned your beef, drain off any rendered fat and then transfer your beef to the slow cooker. Here, you’re going to add all of your remaining ingredients except your pasta.

Remaining ingredients added to slow cooker

Give all that a quick stir before covering and letting cook either on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2. When that’s getting close to done, you’ll want to get your pasta cooked. Follow the instructions provided on your pasta’s packaging and cook until it’s reached an al dente doneness. Drain off any pasta-water, and then add your cooked pasta to the slow cooker.

Pasta elbows added to meat sauce

Stir that until it’s mixed in well. Put the lid back on your slow cooker and let your pasta cook with your goulash for an additional 10 minutes. This’ll help all the flavors get to know each other a little better!

Goulash in a Crockpot

When that cook time’s through, your goulash is ready to eat! Feel free to keep the slow cooker on low to keep your dish warm while everyone’s helping themselves to a serving. Plate up and enjoy yourself!
