It’s great with or without a topping or icing. Serve it plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar for a snack cake. Serve it with whipped topping and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice. Top it with a cream cheese frosting. However you decide to enjoy it, it’s going to be delicious.
3 Ingredient Pumpkin Spice Cake Ingredients
You’re not going to need any fancy ingredients for this 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Spice Cake- just a few ingredients that you might already have! If you love making all sorts of these fall dessert recipes, then you’ll probably find these sitting in your fridge and pantry. In case you need to run to the grocery, here’s all you need:
- Spice Cake Mix – We used Duncan Hines but you could also use Betty Crocker Spice Cake Mix if that’s what you have on hand. Or safe some $$’s and use a store brand mix.
- Pumpkin – You can use canned pumpkin puree to keep this real quick and simple. Make sure you’re not using canned pumpkin pie filling by mistake!
- Eggs
These 3 ingredients will make your Pumpkin Spice Cake, but if you would like, you can top with frosting or icing on top- we used some Cool Whip and a dusting of Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice on ours!

How to make Pumpkin Spice Cake with 3 Ingredients
Like with most 3 ingredient recipes, our 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Spice Cake is real easy to make! Using boxed cake mix helps cut down a lot on the prep time and canned pumpkin makes sure you always get a nice, moist cake in the end. To make this easy pumpkin cake for yourself, here’s what you need to do:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine spice cake mix, pumpkin, and eggs. Use a hand or stand mixer to beat into a consistent cake batter. Transfer cake batter to a greased 9×13 cake pan and spread evenly.
- Move pan to an awaiting 350 degree oven and bake for around 30 minutes or until a toothpick poked into the center of the cake pulls clean. Pull from oven, let cool completely, and top with preferred icing or frosting.
Storage / Freezing
Storage: To store your leftover Pumpkin Spice Cake, you’ll want to cover it well in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container or ziploc bag. Transfer to the fridge for best results and keep for 3-4 days.
Freezing: Frozen Pumpkin Spice Cake will keep a little while longer, if you need long-term storage. Wrap well with plastic wrap and/or aluminum foil to help prevent freezer burn before moving to the freezer. Keep for up to 2-3 months, and let thaw in the refrigerator before enjoying.

- 1 box Spice Cake Mix, 15.25 oz
- 15 oz Pumpkin Puree
- 2 Eggs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Beat together the cake mix, pumpkin ands eggs until blended.
- Grease a 13×9″ pan.
- Spread batter into pan and bake 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely.
Can I make this in a Bundt pan?
