Pumpkin Buttercream Frosting

Fall is on it’s way! That means it will be time to enjoy so many great fall recipes. Apple and pumpkin recipes along with comforting meals always make me anxious for fall to arrive. Bloggers will all be sharing lots of great pumpkin recipes in the next few weeks to kick off pumpkin season.

Homemade Pumpkin Buttercream Frosting - Perfect for cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and more!

In the past few years, I have shared some really great pumpkin recipes with all of you. Many of them are recipes that I make year after year. My family has been anxious for me to make our No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake and also my Pumpkin Lush recipe. I plan to make them in the coming weeks but I was anxious to make some cookies or cake to enjoy for our evening desserts. I could not decide if I should make pumpkin inspired cookies, a cake, or even some brownies.

Since I had yet to decide, I whipped up this Homemade Buttercream Pumpkin Frosting because I knew it would be perfect to top whichever dessert I decided to make. I considered making it a Pumpkin Cream Cheese frosting but, my family always prefers a buttercream. If you are doing fall baking, you will want to consider making it too. It is so easy and uses 4 simple ingredients. Grab some Pumpkin puree, confectioners sugar (powdered sugar), butter, and some pumpkin spice. This Homemade Pumpkin Buttercream Frosting will top a cake, or about 18-24 cupcakes or cookies. I know it will be the best frosting for my Thanksgiving and holiday desserts.

I did not use fresh pumpkin but I am sure it would be great if you have it on hand. You can purchase Pumpkin Pie Spice at most grocery stores or you can make Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice.
