If you are needing a quick and easy comfort food this weekend consider making some Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese. This recipe turned out GREAT! Macaroni and Cheese is one of my favorite foods. Being able to make it in the Slow Cooker just has me super excited. yummy and full of Cheese flavor. Macaroni and Cheese is always one of those couple times per month items we cook. Everyone in the house loves it. It took a bit to get my kiddos to understand that homemade tastes so much better than the box they love so much. I think using Velveeta is the sure trick that convinced them, ha ha!
The only draw back to this recipe is precooking the pasta. If you do not precook the pasta it will not have the right consistency. I am going to work on that one. I do like that I can just drop everything in the Crock-Pot and then head out to the store or run errands. The kids loved that it was made with Velveeta (their favorite).
8 oz Macaroni cooked
8 oz Sharp Cheddar Cheese
8 oz Pepper Jack Cheese
8 oz Velvetta
1 cup milk
Cut all the cheese into cubes.
Spray Slow cooker with non-stick spray.
Pour macaroni in bottom of slow cooker.
spread the cheese cubes around on top of the macaroni.
Pour milk over contents.
Cook on low for about 3 hours (optionally stirring halfway through).
Homemade Macaroni and Cheese is so much better than the boxed stuff. I shared my Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe with you back in the fall. This Recipe is much different using a slow cooker. I think it is a great recipe to make and take to a “Dish to Pass” event. It’s difficult to transport hot foods but this Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese would transport well in the Crock-Pot.
