Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

How cute are these Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats? A few years back the we decided to let the kiddos have their friends all over for a Halloween party. They had not had Halloween parties since they were quite young. Being the cute food crazy mom that I am I insisted they let me choose the food if they were to have a Halloween Party. I pitched the idea of Pumpkin shaped Rice Krispie Treats to each of them. Amazingly they all agreed that they would be perfect (yes, they agreed on something, ha ha). Needless to say these cute little pumpkins were a hit with everyone.
Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
This past weekend when I was making up some of my other fall goodies the kiddos were begging the hubby and I about having another Halloween party and recalled the cute Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats that I made for their past party. I was not the push over that I normally am and totally blew their idea of a Halloween party down the tubes ha ha. The thought of a house full of teenagers dressed in Halloween costumes really had me stressed. Since I turned down their brilliant Halloween party idea I figured I would surprise them all with those cute little Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats. They are so quick and easy to whip up and really put me in the Halloween spirit. Are you looking for a special treat for a Halloween party? If you are consider throwing together a patch of these little guys.

Great fun making these as long as you follow Christina’s advise : wet hands ! I must admit it saved the day ! And I didn’t use 6 cups of Rice Krispies, but 4… Regarding the colour, I think it’s a question of quality. I had to put loads in to get the right colour. I’m very happy how they turned out. Thank you !!
I made these for my vegan daughter with vegan marshmallows but they turned out more oink than orange. I used a raisin instead of tootsie rolls.
We made these for my 11 year olds son’s Halloween party…they turned out super cute and were very easy. However, you HAVE to use parchment paper. Otherwise, they are too sticky.
Had a blast making these with my daughter for her Mini Economy at school tomorrow.
My daughter and I made these for her mini economy at school. We had a lot of fun doing it together!!!!!
Just made this tonight for a halloween party and they turned out great! I added quite a bit of butter and used caramel halves instead of tootsie rolls and green gel icing for the leaf.. they are super cute and are keeping their shape quite well. I started out with buttered hands and it just did not work. I then used warm water and it worked perfectly. They are super adorable!
Hello, I was wondering how far in advance I could make these? We have a Halloween party on Friday and I was hoping to make them tonight but wasn’t sure if they’d keep well or not. Thanks!
We used non stick parchment paper to form the balls. worked beautifully!
oh. we also added 2-3 tbsp of organic pumpkin pie filling to the marshmallow for flavor and color instead of food dye, nice touch :)
We’re headed to my children’s home in Destin for Halloween and I know the granddaughters will love these! They are just too cute! Thank you for your great idea & recipe!
I’m trying to think of a way to make them flavoured…
Maybe warm the butter with pumpkin spices.
They are gorgeous.. thank you for the idea.
how come it didn’t turn Orange it turn pink. did I do something wrong.
I am surprised that people who are cooking in the kitchen cannot do simple math. If there are 12 tootsie rolls and the recipe says to cut each in half then how many tootsie rolls will you have afterwards? If you use one half of a tootsie roll for each pumpkin and have no halves left over, how many pumpkins did you make?
Answer: 24. 12 + 12 = 24.
This could vary depending on the size of the pumpkins you make. For example you could decide to just make 12 large pumpkins instead.
If you cannot do simple math or look at a recipe and figure out how many you get, get out of the kitchen and leave cooking to the educated.
Did you really need to be so rude with your comment? Maybe they didn’t take a close enough look at the actual receipe.
Made 2 batches. Could NOT get a bright orange. First batch was challenging and didnt stay warm enough for tootsie rolls to stick. 2nd batch = better. Used double the butter 6 TBs and used 2 drops of red and 6 drops of yellow and still same light orange/peach color. Would do again with 3 adults. Everyone needs to help so they dont cool before they can be shaped
For those having trouble getting the right orange.. you do know you can buy orange colouring, I hope. Not in the liquid grocery store kinds, but in the cake decorating/candy paste colours. It’s not that difficult.
Not aptly named, are you…
How many does this make?
I reduced the cereal to about 5 1/2 cups and buttered my hands every 2-3 balls and squeezed really hard, and they worked for me. My issue was trying to get a bright orange color. But they were easy to make and looked cute.
I just made them and I couldnt get them into a ball. However, when I used butter on hands and let it cool for they shaped perfectly into a ball. I guess it depends on the size ball you make but I know we got about 24 out of this.
Brittany – how long did you leave them to cool before shaping, and what did you use on your hands (nonstick spray, butter, Crisco)? Planning to make this week and hoping to have a successful experience. :)
About 3 minutes or so, just enough time for them to begin sticking together well. I use butter on my hands to keep them from sticking to my fingers and since they are made with butter, it doesn’t add any unwanted taste.
Can you make ahead & how do you store them?
Does anyone know how much this will make? i’m planning on making some for my daughters classroom, and sons classroom. Thanks!
These are a FAIL. I followed the instructions perfectly and the krispies (as I assumed they would, and was wondering how they would do otherwise..) were too sticky to form into balls..just stuck to your hands…as they do every time you make rice krispie treats. Coating my hands in oil..waiting for them to cool some..nothing..NOTHING worked. Couldn’t get them to stay into any kind of shape so now I have an awkward pan of orange rise krispie treats and nothing to send to the office. Pinterest fail as ALWAYS.
If there is some magical secret that is not stated in the above instructions, please let me know.
Hi Jennifer! The butter on the hands and allowing them to cool just a bit, is the big secret. I have made these MANY times. I actually just made an apple version this past week that I will be sharing this next week. I am sorry that you are having a tough time with them.
I agree Jennifer
I know this question has been asked several times but I don’t see an answer for it. How many servings do you get out of one batch?
Delicious rice krispie treat with pumpkin, thanks for sharing with Hearth and Soul blog hop. pinning
