No Churn Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
on Feb 19, 2015, Updated Aug 29, 2024
This No Churn Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream takes just a couple of ingredients and a few minutes time. No ice cream maker is needed to make this minty chocolate chip goodness. We have shared MANY Ice Cream Recipes with all of you including the No Churn Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream that we enjoyed for Valentine’s Day. But, this ice cream loaded with mint and chocolate chips is now a favorite in our household. The kiddos have been patiently waiting for me to make their favorite flavored ice cream and I delivered.
No Churn Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
When we take our family trips to the ice cream stand during the summer, half of our kiddos order two scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Some of them choose cones and some choose in a dish. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream is one of those ice creams that you either love or dislike. My kiddos and I LOVE it!
When I spot a sale at the grocery store on ice cream, I will buy them their Mint Chip and the hubby his plain vanilla. Now that we make ice cream at home, I have not been even buying ice cream when it is on sale. Since we can make a batch of ice cream in just a few minutes time with our favorite ingredients, there is no need to buy store bought.
The ingredients needed for this Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream are so simple. Just four ingredients are needed, heavy cream, sweeten condensed milk, mint extract, and chocolate chips. You can add in food coloring if you are wanting your mint chip ice cream to be green. My kiddos have a slight irritation if their Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is not green in color. Honestly, I do not get it but they seem to think the uncolored stuff does not have enough mint flavor. Silly Kiddos!
INGREDIENTS

14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

If your family loves their ice cream as much as mine, you will want to consider hopping over to Amazon to score this KitchenAid Classic Smooth Scoop. We have bought so many ice cream scoops to only have them break. This classic scoop is tough and available in a few KitchenAid Colors too! We have been so happy with it.

Has anyone ever succeeded with this recipe? After 20 minutes of beating on high speed and an absolute mess it never got close to thickening. Just wondering if I should troubleshoot and try again, or just find a different recipe???
Hi Kelley! I am so sorry to hear that the recipe did not work for you. I will say that you most likely have over beaten the mixture. You need to beat just until soft peaks form. I hope you give it a try again as it is a delicious homemade ice cream.
As an avid lover of mint chocolate chip, I was ecstatic you had a recipe for this flavor that didn’t require an ice cream maker! I have to remember not everyone else loves mint as much as me because I was a bit excited with the flavoring and was told I had made Colgate ice cream. Otherwise, this is a great tasting treat!
My favorite ice cream is Mint Oreo but can’t find it any where, do you think I could substitute oreos instead of chocolate chips?
Thanks for sharing! Mint chocolate chip is my favorite, my brother’s and was my mother’s also.—maybe it’s hereditary? Pinning this for sure!
Looks so creamy not to be churned. We taste with our eyes first, so I understand your kids.
Going to make this, soon.
