Halloween Twinkie Mummies Recipe
on Sep 02, 2014, Updated Oct 21, 2020
If you are looking for a fun Halloween treat these Halloween Twinkie Mummies will be perfect. I am always excited to make easy treats for the kiddos throughout the Halloween Season. Surprising them after school or tossing something special in their lunchboxes always excites them. I shared our easy Witch Hat Treats with you the other day. They were so simple and so are these Mummies.
Halloween Twinkie Mummies Recipe
I had these placed in the back of the refrigerator hoping to hide them from the kiddos. Guess What? Yup… they found them before I could include them in their lunches. They were super excited though to eat these Twinkie Mummies for dessert last night. They all love Twinkies (hubby included. The addition of the chocolate makes them super duper delish.
The ingredients are so simple. Just grab a box of Twinkies (I found a sale at Kroger), some white melting chocolates and some candy eyes. You could use just about anything even icing for the eyes.
INGREDIENTS
16 oz White Melting Chips (White Chocolate)
6 Twinkies
12 Candy Eye Decorations
DIRECTIONS
Place Twinkies in freezer for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare a baking sheet or cutting board by covering with parchment or wax paper.
Melt candy chips by microwaving 30 seconds then stirring and repeating until melted.
Dip each Twinkie in chocolate and roll to completely coat.
Transfer to prepared paper.
Place 2 eyes in each Twinkie.
Allow to set for 3-4 minutes.
Lift each Twinkie to separate from paper.
Using a knife carefully trim excess chocolate that ran off of mummies.
Transfer remaining melted chocolate to zippered bag and clip corner to pipe/drizzle.
Drizzle chocolate back and forth across Twinkie (avoiding eyes) to get bandaged look.
Allow to set.
These Halloween Twinkie Mummies were a perfect Halloween themed treat for my kids (and mom & dad). They are super cute and would be great for a Halloween party too! Simple but so cute!

These are adorable. Can believe I actually ate my first Twinkie just the other day? Iโm over 50! The plain cake look without any frosting or glaze just never looked appetizing to me. Surprisingly, It was pretty good.

I am going to make these tomorrow for my son and his cousins. My grocer did not have white chocolate melts so I bought Ghirardelli white chocolate chips instead. Do I need to add anything to the chips, or will they melt and set up okay on their own?
