Easter Carrot Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Making Chocolate Covered Strawberries is so incredibly simple. I did use Orange Wilton Melting Wafers for these carrots. The color is perfect! You can purchase the melting chips at Michaels, Target, or over on Amazon.

If you would prefer to use chocolate chips, choose white chips, orange food coloring, and about one teaspoon of shortening. It will be a bit more effort to get the perfect coloring, but that method works as well.

Choosing strawberries this time of year can be difficult. Look for bright red and medium-sized. I think the medium resembles a carrot best.

Can I make Chocolate Covered Strawberries Ahead of Time?

You sure can, but fresh is best. I like to make the strawberries the night before serving or gifting. Dipped strawberries will last for two days when kept refrigerated. Note: some leakage will occur when they are stored.

How to Make Easter Chocolate Covered Strawberries

First, add parchment paper to a large baking sheet and then set aside.

Then, wash and dry the strawberries. Be sure you completely dry before moving on to the next step. Moisture will make the chocolate very runny and possibly not harden the way it should.

Add the entire bag of melting chips to a small saucepan. Then, heat on low and stir continuously until chocolate has melted. Look for smoothness. Remove from heat.

Next, hold the pan at an angle and coat each strawberry in orange chocolate. Be careful not to dip the stem. Then place on prepared pan.

Note: you can also use a small toothpick or stick to help with dipping if you prefer.

Adding the drizzle to easter strawberry

Allow the chocolate to harden. Return the pan to heat and reheat the remaining chocolate. Then, transfer to a piping bag or zipper bag.

Tip: Place the bag in a tall cup and fold down the sides. Using this method will make it easier to transfer the chocolate. No need for another set of hands!

Now, cut a tiny snip out of the corner of the bag to drizzle another layer of chocolate. This step is not necessary but makes the strawberries look a bit nicer. You could also dust the berries with sanding sugar before they dry if you prefer.
