Spooky cookies are always fun so I knew these spooky Chocolate Skeleton Cookies were going to be perfect for my boys! The kiddos were needing some cookies to pack in their lunches this week. I wanted to make them something a bit spooky for them to enjoy. The whole family loves chocolate cookies so I knew they would be great for the kiddos and the hubby. With Halloween just around the corner I like to pack up spooky treats for them to be surprised at lunch time. They really liked our Twinkie Mummies last week. So I knew these Skeleton Cookies were going to be perfect. Plus they would be cute for a Halloween Party too! When the boys arrived home from school they were anxious to see if we had any of these left for them to have for an afternoon snack. So… I let them enjoy a few more. Everyone thought these were just so cute and tasty too!
Chocolate Skeleton Cookies Recipe
The key to these cute cookies was our Christmas Gingerbread Cookie Cutter. Turning that cute little gingerbread man in to a spooky skeleton was the key. Patience with the decorating is key. Finding the perfect icing that would harden (I was a wimp and did not want to take the time to do a royal icing). To my surprise the hubby came up with a perfect icing that hardened quickly and worked perfect for decorating these little guys.
These Chocolate Skeleton Cookies were quite simple to make and you probably have the ingredients right in your cabinets. Allowing your dough to chill just a bit is key to making your dough roll well. It does not take long at all.
