Thanksgiving is coming soon, and I am sure many of us are on the hunt for an appetizer to serve our families. This year I plan to serve Cranberry Salsa Dip, Spiced Pumpkin Deviled Eggs, and this cute turkey.

Cheese Balls are so easy to make and can be made a day or so ahead of time. I like to serve ours with veggies and crackers. I usually have a platter of celery, cucumbers. Broccoli and carrots nearby.

Turkey Cheese Ball

We make a Thanksgiving Turkey Cheese Ball recipe most every year because my kiddos loved making it when they were little. I guess we call it a tradition. It’s cute and festive.

The body is shaped to resemble the turkey breast. We add pretzel sticks and slices of pepper for the feathers. Then, we cut two pieces of red pepper for his head and wattle. I use candy eyes, but you can be creative.

This cheese ball will be the center of attention. The creamy flavored dip with the crunchy pecan coating is so tasty. Make it for a holiday, an office party or pot luck.

Ingredients to make Thanksgiving Turkey Cheese Ball

  • Cream Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Worcestershire
  • Cheese
  • Pecans
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Pretzel Sticks

How to Make Thanksgiving Turkey Cheese Ball

First, add the softened cream cheese and sour cream to a medium or large bowl. Beat until smooth.

Then, add the garlic powder, onion powder, and Wosstishire. Mix with a hand mixer until well combined.

Then add the shredded cheddar. It’s best to shred brick cheese but, you can also use store-bought pre-shredded too.

Sharp cheddar or mild cheddar is perfect.

Then add the cheese mixture to a piece of plastic wrap. Cover all sides and form into the turkey body shape. I did mine a bit oval. You could also form it perfectly round. Refrigerate for about one hour or until firm.

In a small bowl, add pecans. Then place cheese ball in the bowl. Roll in chopped pecans until completely covered.

Add the Turkey Cheese Ball to the desired plate or platter. Then position pretzel sticks and slices of red pepper for the tail feathers.

Next, make the turkey head and wattle with red or orange pepper. Decorate how you like.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.
