Santa’s Favorite Christmas M&M Cookies

If you need cookies for Santa this year, these Christmas M&M Cookies are his favorite. The dough resembles that of chocolate chip cookies but, instead of chips, we add red and green M&M candies. Kids, and St. Nick will love them!
Christmas M&M Cookies
Making Santa cookies is a tradition for us. Even as the kids get older, the cookies and milk need to are left for the big guy. Most years, the kiddos and I make a few batches of Christmas M&M cookies for Santa and to give for gifts.
Most everyone loves chocolate chip cookies. So, we make a cookie dough that is similar and then toss in lots of red and green M&Ms candies to make them festive. They are always a favorite.
The cookie is soft and chewy with a perfect amount of sweet. The candies add a bit of crunch from the candy coating. They are most delicious when enjoyed with a glass of milk, that’s why they are perfect for Santa Cookies.
The Christmas cookies with M&Ms are also great for a cookie exchange, office party, or to have throughout the holiday season for snacking. This cookie recipe can be used during the rest of the year too. You can add the different seasons colored M&M candies instead of the red and green we used for Christmas.
I find these cookies so easy to make. Chill the dough for about 20-30 mins for the best results. If it is not chilled, the cookies will be flat and unattractive. It will also be a bit more challenging to form the cookie balls. So, I find it best to place covered in the refrigerator before baking.
You could also add chocolate chips to the dough. If you should choose to use the addition mix-in, cut back on the amount of M&M candies. I like using just M&M’s. Nuts would be another addition that would be possible for an add-in.
Soft and chewy cookies are always my favorite. I heard they were Santa’s favorite too! Make a batch ahead of time to have them ready for Christmas morning.
Ingredients to Christmas M&M Cookies

- Brown Sugar
- Flour
- Baking Soda
- Salt
- Butter
- Egg
- Vanilla
How to Make Christmas M&M Cookies
First, add the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar to a large bowl or stand mixer. Beat until creamy.
Now, add the egg and vanilla to the sugar mixture. With a stand mixer or a hand mixer beat until combined. Set it aside.
Next, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
Then, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients while beating.
Now, fold in 1 and a half cups of the mini m&m’s candies.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
Next, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Scoop a heaping tablespoon of dough and form balls with hands. Place the dough balls on an ungreased baking sheet. Add a few additional M&M’s candies to the tops (press slightly into dough.) Bake for about 10 minutes.
Look for golden brown edges and remove them from the oven. Do not over bake. The cookie will look slightly undone — this ok. If overbaking, your cookie will be hard and not chewy.
