How to make Easy Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls
These Pumpkin Twists might look like they’re hard but they’re actually a really easy to make dessert recipe! We’ve also got plenty of pictures here to help you through it. Here’s all you need to do:
- Mix your pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice together in a mixing bowl until combined. Open the crescent dough sheets and roll one out on a cutting board. Spread the pumpkin filling evenly across the top of the rolled out crescent sheet.
- Roll out the second dough sheet and set it on top of the pumpkin filling on the bottom sheet. Gently press the sheets together.
- Use something like a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the sheets into 8 seperate pieces.
- Cut these 8 pieces down the middle but stop about 1/2-inch from the end. This will leave you with 8 pieces that each have these two strands.
- For each dough piece, twist the two strands together.
- To turn these Pumpkin Twists into something like a pumpkin cinnamon roll, roll them up from the cut-end first.
- Roll the twists up nice and tight until only the uncut tail-end is all that’s left.
- Lift and tuck the tail-end underneath the rolled up pumpkin twist.
- Repeat for all 8 Pumpkin Twists and set on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt butter and brush it evenly over all the Pumpkin Pie Twists.
- Whisk together granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over all the Pumpkin Twists.
- Put the rolls in a waiting 375 degree oven and bake for 10 minutes– the rolls will just start to brown. While rolls bake, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together to form a quick icing.
- Drizzle icing over finished Pumpkin Twists while they’re still warm. Serve and enjoy!
Storage / Freezing
Storage: Let any leftover Pumpkin Crescent Rolls cool to room temperature before transferring to an airtight container or bag. Keep in the fridge for 3-5 days.
Freezing: If you want to keep your Pumpkin Pie Twists frozen, let them cool completely before “flash freezing” them. Pop them on a parchment lined sheet and put in the freezer for 30-45 minutes to keep them from sticking together once frozen. Transfer to a freezer bag or freezer-safe container and keep frozen for 1-2 months. Let thaw in the fridge before reheating in the oven for best results.
Tips for the BEST Pumpkin Pie Crescent Roll Twists
Always keep your dough chilled until you are ready to construct the Pumpkin Twists. As the dough gets warm from touch, it becomes a bit more difficult to work with.
