Since Aldi has a nice sale on blueberries this week, I whipped up this Easy Blueberry Crisp Recipe to enjoy for dessert. The hubby and I are huge fans of crisps. He is not much of a fruit person but will eat a crisp if I make one up. Having desserts that are quick and easy are a MUST for me for evenings that I am pressed for time.
Easy Blueberry Crisp Recipe
Crisp always reminds me of school lunch while growing up. I would always get super excited when apple crisp was on the daily lunch menu. I can actually recall trading up other food items for others apple crisps ha ha.
Fresh Blueberries have been sale quite a bit and should continue to be. Grab some when you are shopping. You can also use frozen blueberries and accomplish a great Blueberry Crisp too!
This Easy Blueberry Crisp recipe is so simple and requires very few ingredients. You can whip it up before cooking dinner to enjoy for an evening dessert. I like to toss on a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. The mixture of the fruit, cream. oats and brow sugar are perfect together.
INGREDIENTS
6 tbsp softened Butter
5 cups Blueberries
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
3/4 cup Flour
1 cup Oats (Regular or Quick)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 375.
Lightly butter an 8″ square baking dish.
In a large bowl combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup of the flour and mix well to eliminate clumps.
Add fruit and toss until evenly coated.
Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
Stir together oats, remaining brown sugar and remaining flour.
Using a pastry tool or 2 forks, blend butter into oat mixture until well combined.
Spread topping over fruit.
Bake until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly (40 minutes).
Let cool 10-15 minutes and serve warm.
This Easy blueberry Crisp would be a great dessert to whip up for a picnic too. I will eat it cold (that’s how it was from the cafeteria ha ha). It’s just yummy fruit and sweet flavors that are great warm or cold.
