For our Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites, I used Kraft Caramels. You could also consider using Rolo Candies like I did in our Rolo Pretzel Bites recipe. The addition of the chocolate could be tasty as well.

Ingredients for Caramel Apple Bites Recipe

These Caramel Apple Bites don’t need that many ingredients- it’s a quick 4 ingredient recipe, maybe even 3 ingredients if you skip the lemon juice. If you like snacking on salty pretzels and caramel candies, you might even have everything already! In case you’re missing anything, this is all you’ll need:

Pretzel Caramel Apple Bites ingredients.
  • Apples – We went with a Honeycrisp apple and a green apple we had sitting around- mostly just for a bit of extra color. Baking apples will probably work best here but we don’t think your choice of apple is too important for this recipe.
  • Lemon Juice – We use lemon juice to keep apples from browning. As an added bonus, it does add the tiniest bit of acidity to our finished apple bites. Combine that with a bit of salt and a plenty of caramel sweetness and you get the perfect sweet treat!
  • Mini Pretzels – You’ll want to grab these salty mini pretzels for this recipe. Snyder’s Mini Pretzels will probably be your best bet. If you can only find unsalted mini pretzels, make sure to add some salt.
  • Caramels – We’ll be using soft caramel candies for this recipe- don’t grab hard caramels! Kraft caramels and Brach’s chewy caramels are the two most common ones you’ll find at the store. It’s also worth pointing out you can make these into Rolo Pretzel Apple Bites by subbing in Rolo candies here.

How to make Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites

Cored and diced apples on a cutting board.

Since our Caramel Apple Bites use a handful of ingredients, you shouldn’t be shocked to see that they’re so easy to make too! The most you’ll have to do is slice up some apples- besides that, the oven does most of the work. Here’s all you have to do:

  • Start by preheating your oven to 250 degrees. Then you will be coring and slicing apples into bite-sized pieces that will fit on top of the mini pretzels. Once sliced, transfer apple slices to a mixing bowl and add lemon juice. Give a quick toss to coat.

  • To assemble Caramel Apple Bites, first spread mini pretzels out on a baking sheet.

  • Unwrap caramel candies and set one on top of each mini pretzel.
Caramels add to the tops of the mini pretzels.
  • Next, bake the pretzels with caramels in a 250 degree oven for about 5-6 minutes.

  • Lastly, set an apple slice on top of each melted caramel.

Storage / Freezing

Storage: If you have any leftover Caramel Apple Bites, you should be able to keep them in the fridge. Transfer to an airtight container or ziploc bag and put in the refrigerator. They should keep for 3-5 days.

Freezing: We really wouldn’t recommend freezing these. Caramel doesn’t freeze well and we have to imagine the apples aren’t going to have the best texture when they thaw. Just enjoy your Pretzel Caramel Apple Bites now and keep any leftovers in the fridge if you need.

Tips for TASTY Caramel Apple Bites

If you can, don’t skip tossing the apples in lemon juice. It keeps them from browning and that little bit of sour is just going to enhance the sweet and salty flavors from the pretzels and caramels
