Crockpot Candy

Making candy and fudge during the holiday season is something I do each year. Simple sweets like Peanut Butter Meltaways, Polar Paws, and Sticky Paws are great to enjoy. Plus, they are great for gifting in a tin or cellophane bag.

CrockPot Candy is another must make for me. I melt the chocolate in the slow cooker and then stir in peanuts. It’s so easy and is fantastic each time I have made it.

Have you ever made it? If not, consider making these peanut clusters for holiday candy and gift-giving. With a few Christmas colored sprinkles, they are quite festive.

CrockPot Candy is great for office parties when you would like to offer a sweet treat. The recipe makes enough to feed a large crowd. Plus, it is inexpensive to make.

If you plan to gift the CrockPot Candy, purchase a tin at the Dollar Store. I usually add tissue paper and then stack about six peanut clusters per small tin. Or consider cellophane bags with ribbon and a tag.

Homemade food gifts are great for Christmas. It seems that everyone has most of everything nowadays. Thinking of unique gifts can be a challenge. Since I started gifting candies and cookies, the struggle is gone.

It requires just four ingredients to make CrockPot Peanut Clusters. The recipe starts with a white chocolate almond bark. You can find the chocolate melting trays in the baking aisle at your grocery store.

The recipe also uses chocolate chips. I use a semi-sweet Ghirardelli brand because they are my favorite. If you would like to cut down on costs, use a store brand.

A German Chocolate Bar is needed. You can find them in the baking goods aisle. Quite often they are on a good sale during the holidays. I like to stock up if I find a bargain.

Finally, purchase the peanuts. I always use Salted Dry Roasted Peanuts. Store-bought or Planters work equally as well.

For an added option, I top with holiday sprinkles or sea salt. The toppings are not necessary but add a bit of Christmas flavor. I always use the when gifting.

CrockPot Candy can be made ahead of time, making it perfect for gift giving. Make a batch and store in a zipper bag or airtight container for about four days.

You can also freeze Crock Pot Candy. I use a freezer bag. When defrosting, use the refrigerator to help reduce the condensation.

Easy CrockPot Candy for Christmas

Ingredients to Make CrockPot Candy

  • Peanuts (Note that my image shows two kinds. I only use the Dry Roasted for my recipe)
  • White Vanilla Bark (melting tray) or Candy Melting Chips
  • Semi-Sweet Milk Chocolate Chips
  • German Chocolate

How to Make CrockPot Candy

First, heavily grease the slow cooker. I use shortening, but a cooking spray works too! Note: this a four quart-sized CrockPot. Add the chocolate chips.

Next, chop the almond bark into small pieces and add to the slow cooker.

Before placing the lid, add a double layer of paper towels to the top of the Crock. The paper towel will collect the condensation that can form on the cover and ruin your candy.

Cook on low for approximately 2 hours. And, stir the chocolate every 25-30 minutes. I like to set a timer for every 20 minutes to be safe.

After the chocolate has melted, add the German Chocolate Bar and stir until melted. I chop before adding. It melts very quickly.

Next, add the peanuts and stir baby stir until evenly coated.

Scoop about a tablespoon or whatever size you choose of the peanut mixture. I use my cookie scoop as I find it works best. Drop onto a piece of parchment paper (note: Do not use wax paper, the candy will stick). Add sprinkles to the chocolate candy if you wish. Then, allow them to cool.
