Sometimes we may not have confectioners sugar on hand. In a pinch, this recipe is great. I know many of us often have times when the pantry is low on baking items.

To make Homemade Confectioners Sugar grab your blender. If you do not have a blender, a food processor could work too. Then, toss in the sugar and cornstarch and blend until you have a fine powder.

Ingredients to make Confectioners Sugar

  • Granulated Sugar
  • Cornstarch

Ingredients to make powdered sugar

How to Make Homemade Confectioners Sugar

Add granulated sugar and cornstarch to a blender. Blend on high for about one minute.

Store the sugar in an airtight container.

If you do not plan to store the confectioners sugar, the cornstarch is optional. You can simply just blend sugar until fine to use in a recipe you are making immediately.

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch optional

Instructions

  • Place sugar in blender.
  • If you plan on storing, add cornstarch (to prevent caking).
  • Run for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Allow to sit with lid on for 5 minutes to allow to settle.
  • You can also use a coffee grinder or food processor if desired.
