Homemade Pancake Syrup

I never realized that it was possible to make pancake syrup homemade. Silly, me. Is it as healthy as pure maple syrup, I am going to assume not. But, it is amazing with or without maple flavoring. Adding vanilla makes it similar to my kids’ favorite Mrs. Butterworth’s version.

Sometimes, we run low on essential pantry ingredients. I have shared quite a few substitutes that I use frequently. Last week, I was out of maple syrup for our Homemade Pancake Mix, so I used this homemade syrup recipe that my grandmother passed along to me. It’s so simple, and you can make it in a few minutes.

This homemade maple syrup is a bit thin. If you prefer to have a thicker syrup, add about 1/3 cup of corn syrup when you add the sugar and water. We prefer a thinner syrup with fewer ingredients, so we leave it out.

Pancake syrup and maple syrup can be quite pricey. This recipe is just as good, if not better than store-bought. Make it. I believe you will agree!

Store it for up to one week in the refrigerator. Be sure to use an airtight container. Heat in the microwave before using it.
