on Jan 24, 2014, Updated Jan 30, 2024
Yes, the hubby whipped us up this Copycat Chick-fil-A Sandwich and it is PERFECT! I love Chick–fil-A but really can not afford to take the whole family for chicken sandwiches very frequently. The hubby was on a mission to come up with a perfect copycat recipe for the original Chicka-fil-A and I think he found it. Quite a few unique steps to make it taste like the real thing.
CopyCat Chick-fil-A Sandwich
If you are a fan of chick-fil-A you know that the chicken sandwich has some unique textures and flavors. There is of course a process to get those specific textures and flavors. Save yourself some dollars and make yourself Chick-fil-A at home. Pretty simple once you have this CopyCat Chick-fil-A recipe.
INGREDIENTS (Yield 4 sandwiches)
2 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
1/2 cup Pickle Juice
2 Eggs
1/4 cup Milk
1 cup Flour
2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Salt

4 Buns (buttered and toasted)
Pickle Slices!
DIRECTIONS
Put chicken in zippered bag and pound gently with the flat side of a mallet until about 1/2″ thick.
Cut each breast into 2 equal pieces.
Marinate chicken in the pickle juice for about an hour.
Beat together egg and milk in a bowl.
Mix together the flour, sugar, and spices in another bowl.
Heat the oil in a skillet to about 350.
Dip each chicken piece into the egg covering both sides, then coat in flour on each side.
Fry each chicken piece for 2 minutes on each side, or until golden and cooked through.
Place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Then serve on toasted buns with pickle slices.
Pair your Chick-Fil-A sandwich with some waffle fries and a soda and you have a fast food meal on the cheap. Dig in the condiment drawer for some ketchup packs to make it all seem like fast food ha ha!

Do you use pickle juice from dill pickles in a jar? Or is it sweet pickle juice? Just wondering how you got this much juice?
made this and am making it again today. We love it and it is just like chic fila .
Thank you,
Vicki Hinkle
I live in Hawaii and there are NO Chick-fil-A’s here and I crave them all the time. So coming across this will save me…..thanks for sharing.
what sort of pickle juice is this? The juice from pickles or the juice used to pickle pickles?
I used to work at Chick-fil-A many, many years ago. I’ve also seen a lot of “copycat” recipes, but I could tell just by the recipe that it wouldn’t be close. They were always missing the sugar and pickle juice. I will have to try this one. It looks really close!
I miss the chicken sandwiches since we live far from the nearest Chick-fil-A. :( Can’t wait to try it!
What kind of pickle juice? Sweet or sour. I always thought their chicken tasted sweet and assumed they marinated with sugar in the brine. Have you tried different pickles?
Will it make a huge difference if a different oil is used instead of the peanut oil?
Hi Anne! I have not tried it with any other oil than Peanut Oil just because the Peanut Oil is exactly what Chick fil-A uses when cooking their chicken. I am sure it will still be a great sandwich without. But, you may not get the same flavors as Chick fil-A. Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you if you should decide to use a different oil.
sounds great & yes it would not taste the same if you did not use peanut oil & yes it’s more expensive but that’s what it would take. That’s what the restaurant uses. Strips are a different marinate but nuggets are the same.
My husband was impressed! He really liked them, and our daughter said, “Mom, this is better than Chick fil A”! :) super easy and yummy!
I recently moved to the UK and MISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Chik fil a!!! I am making this ASAP! Thanks!!!
My family loves eating at Chick-Fil-A. It’s definitely a family favorite when we go to the mall. I will have to try this one.
I made sure to pin it and share on my Facebook page. I would love to see more copy-cat recipes. Keep them coming!

This looks so yummy! I love Chick-fil-a :)
This is such a great recipe. Thanks! I can’t wait to try it out this weekend. My husband likes the spicy one. Do you have any suggestions for making a copy cat of that? Like Cayanne pepper maybe?
I am quite fond of the spicy sandwich too so I ended up trying the same recipe but I added siracha in with the pickle juice to marinate and it turned out great! Not quite the same flavor as the real deal but still good! Hope this helps!
This sound delicious!
