What Peanut Butter works best for this 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe?

Grab that cheap store branded smooth peanut butter to make these the BEST 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies. I have never used a chunky peanut butter. If you try it, be sure to leave us a comment as to how it worked for you. I have used a natural peanut butter because that is normally what I have on hand in my pantry. The natural peanut butter works but the cookie has a bit more of a crumbly texture. A Jif or a Skippy Peanut Butter works too. The Best peanut butter that I have used for these cookies was the store brand. I believe the oil in the generic makes the cookie so much better.

Can I add add some mix-ins to the 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies?

Sure go ahead and add in your chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, nuts, m&m’s or maybe even some Reese’s Pieces. We have added mix-ins as well as vanilla to our recipe in the past.

Can I make this 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookie with brown sugar?

I have seen many recipes around on the web that use brown sugar instead of the plain white sugar. I have never tried that recipe. I feel that this recipe really is spot on and makes the best peanut butter cookie.

  1. Great recipe, i have used i er and over again, I have only added a pinch of kosher salt flakes to the top and delicious! Reminds me of the old school PB cookies we used to get with school lunch……way back in the 1900’s 😂

  2. I made the 3 ingredient peanut cookies. They were real dry and crumbled when I picked one up. Let me give you some background. I am a diabetic, so I used Stevia instead of diver. Would that of made my cookies dry and crumbly? Any suggestions?

I have made these multiple times. I have never had better homemade peanut butter cookies. The many other recipes I have tried since childhood (a long time) taste like cookies with some peanut butter in them. THESE are peanut butter cookies.

Request: please indicate in the recipe if the peanut butter should be natural or salted or crunchy, etc. I use natural creamy salted because that’s what I have. I tried with crunchy once and the cookies were a bit too greasy.

I add chocolate covered espresso beans to the mix or poke them in on top for a “breakfast” cookie ;). I have also used 2 Tb of dough and pushed a small Trader Joes peanut butter cup into the top.

    1. Yummy!! I substituted a ripe banana for the sugar!! So I did one cup peanut butter, one large ripe banana and one egg. I dudes a capful of vanilla. I hand mixed all together with a fork. Baked at 350 for 17 minutes. They are delicious! I was going to add some raisins for sweetness too but I want to give a little to my doggie as a treat. Dogs can’t have raisins. Thanks for the recipe!!

Made these with brown sugar and crunchy peanut butter and shapped them like lil dog treats kids loved them.

  5. I made these today! Was worried they wouldn’t work at first but they are so yummy! Had to leave in the oven for 20 mins as they were still quite soft but they tasted amazing when they were done and my family loved them! Passed the recipe onto my sister to try!

Great Cookie! I did substitute brown sugar instead of granulated and added a touch of vanilla. Made them 3x in the last week of being stay in place…… huge hit with everyone

  7. First and last time make it these. I made and baked them as directed and fell apart. Put them back in for 10 more minutes, same thing. 😫 Won’t be making these again. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can’t say I cared for these cookies. Too much of a sugar bomb. They may be better with the 1/2 cup brown sugar rather than the full cup of white sugar. Think I’ll stick with my grandmother’s recipe. Thanks though.

    1. Hi Ken! I am so sorry that you did not care much for this recipe. We actually LOVE them and make them frequently. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

I absolutely love these! I made them once and the second time I added MCT oil powder and topped them with salt! I read other comments that added vanilla.. I will add that the next time around!! Thank you!!

    1. I added a pinch of kosher salt flakes to the top as well, reminds me so much of the PB cookies they used to make us at school….way back in the day 😉

  10. My husband and I love them and I used a combo of smooth jiffy peanut butter and organic chunky peanut butter and they are totally amazing we now prefer them with some chunky peanut butter I also adjusted the time I put them of 20mins and let cool and they are a wonderful consistency not crummy or dry.. thank you for this recipe🥰🥰

Great in a hurry, little ingredients, desert/snack ……just made these for my husband and I …..kids were asleep and we wanted something sweet……..but the will have some to wake up to in the am……

  12. I used chunky peanut butter & brown sugar. I added a teaspoon of vanilla. I doubled the recipe. Then I added chocolate chips to 1/3 of the batter, oatmeal to a 1/3 of the batter and the rest of the batter I left plain. They all were delicious! Didn’t last long.
