- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Molasses
- 2 1/2 cup Flour
- 2 tsp ground Cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground Ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground Cloves
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 cup hot Water
Preheat oven to 350.
Grease and flour a 9" square pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.
Add egg and molasses to mixture.
Beat until blended.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and baking soda.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture stirring regularly.
Add hot water and stir until smooth.
Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool in pan before serving.
