Garlic Steak Kabobs are a delicious combo of sirloin, onion, peppers, and mushrooms. These tasty skewers are great for grilling and barbecues!

Nothing livens up a grill-out like some nice steak kebabs- finished with a bit of garlic butter. Goes great with our Parmesan Grilled Corn on the Cob and Pasta Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Summer is the season for grill-outs and our family here loves some good barbecue food! We’re familiar with all the classic picks- the burgers, the hotdogs, and juicy grilled chicken breasts. These are all timeless fare for pool parties and get-togethers… but I think we’re missing something! Lately, we’ve been loving these delicious Garlic Steak Kabobs.

Grilled Garlic Steak Kabobs Steak Kebabs

Kebabs are another summertime favorite: stack all your favorite meats and veggies on a skewer and grill away! But these Garlic Steak Skewers have a little extra ingredient that takes them to a whole new level: a nice, finishing coat of garlic butter. Adding garlic butter to steak seems like a no-brainer- it’s what all the fancy steakhouses do, right? Adding it to these delicious grilled kebabs really does make them something special!

If you’ve never fixed kabobs, kebabs, or any sort of skewers on the grill before, don’t worry. Our recipe is real simple and super easy to follow along with. Feel free to use everything we used- bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms- or bring in some of your other favorite vegetables that go with steak! However you stack your skewers, we’re certain you’re gonna love them.

Ingredients for Garlic Steak Kebabs

  • Steak – No need to get any premium cuts or anything fancy like filet mignon or ribeye. Sirloin usually works best here.
  • Onion – We like red onions here.
  • Bell Pepper – These green bell peppers looked great!
  • White Mushrooms
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Butter – We’re going to make homemade garlic butter with this by combining it with…
  • Minced Garlic
  • Parsley – For a bit of color and garnish at the end!

How to make Steak Kabobs on Grill

Making these delicious Garlic Steak Skewers couldn’t be easier. To get these made, here’s what you need to do:
  1. Chop your kabob ingredients into skewer-sized chunks before assembling your steak kabobs on metal skewers. Coat with olive oil and season with salt & pepper.
  2. Grill your kebabs over medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. Dress your finished steak skewers with homemade garlic butter and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve on skewers or transfer to a plate and enjoy.

The first step to making our steak kabobs is getting all the ingredients chopped. Really, you can chop everything to your preferred size- so long as it all fits on the skewer in the end! If you don’t know what size to go with, aim for about 1-inch pieces. Oftentimes, you won’t even have to chop the mushrooms- though you can cut the stems off if they seem too big.

Once everything’s chopped, assemble your ingredients onto the skewers. Again, feel free to stack stuff onto the skewers in your preferred order.

Before getting these kebabs onto the grill, we’re going to hit them with a couple more ingredients. First, some olive oil: adds a touch of flavor and helps everything sear well without getting too stuck to the grill.

Second, some salt & pepper. It always helps to season stuff a touch before cooking it- and you can always season more later!

Grilling Steak Kabobs

Now it’s finally time to get these grilling! Let your grill pre-heat to medium-high heat before putting your steak kabobs down. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, giving them a turn about every 5. This will let each side pick up some gorgeous-looking color and ensure your kebabs cook through evenly. Once those are cooked to your liking, pull them from the grill and get ready to hit them with some garlic butter.

How to make garlic butter

While these steak kabobs would be good enough on their own, they taste amazing with a finishing coat of garlic butter. To make homemade garlic butter, it’s as easy as getting some butter melted in the microwave and mixing in some minced garlic! You can mix this stuff up ahead of time to really let that garlic flavor infuse into the butter but it’ll work if your making it right now.

After getting your garlic butter mixed up, give your steak skewers a generous coating of the stuff. If you’re serving these up to a crowd, you could also leave the garlic butter off on the side so people can add it if they like.

Really, all that’s left to add here is a finishing garnish of parsley if you’d like. It adds a bit of color and herb-y flavor that only makes these skewers taste better!

Garlic Steak Kabobs

Garlic Steak Kabobs are a delicious combo of sirloin, onion, peppers and mushrooms. These tasty skewers are great for grilling and barbecues!
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 21 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients 

  • 1 lb Sirloin Steak
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 8 oz Mushrooms, white or button
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Parsley

Instructions 

  • Cut steak into 1" cubes.
  • Remove seeds and cut pepper into 1" pieces.
  • Cut red onion into 1" pieces.
  • Heat a grill to medium high heat.
  • Insert meat, onion, pepper and mushroom onto skewers.
  • Brush the assembled skewers with olive oil.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning about every 5 minutes
  • Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl by heating for 1 minute, stirring and repeating until done.
  • Add the garlic and set aside.
  • Brush the cooked kabobs with garlic butter and sprinkle with minced parsley.

Notes

If using wooden skewers be sure to soak them in water before loading them with meat and veggies. This will be keep them from burning.
