Easy Stromboli
Have you ever enjoyed a Stromboli? If not, you are missing out on some serious good eats. Think of Stromboli like a pizza rolled up in a long log. Sort of like a pizza burrito. You slice the log in handheld pieces to dip in pizza sauce. You will find so many different variations of Stromboli. Some make theirs with pizza sauce inside, some enjoy it with the pizza sauce on the side. Some will make it with mozzarella, others make it with provolone, and many make it with a combination of both. Whichever way it is made, it is always delish. The crunchy crust with all the toppings and gooey cheese make for a filling and tasty dinner.
I have always ordered my favorite Stromboli from my favorite Italian restaurant. I never really attempted to make my own. Now that school is back in session for all my kiddos, I have been trying to plan quick and easy dinner ideas. Homemade EASY Stromboli was one idea that I have decided to try. I grabbed a few pre-made Pillsbury Pizza Crusts when doing my grocery shopping this past week. I knew they would be perfect for making our own Easy Stromboli.
The great thing about making Stromboli at home is everyone can choose their own toppings. I made this again last night and we made half with veggies and half without for my picky eaters. I plan to make a few different variations in the future and also making my own homemade Stromboli dough. I am sure making homemade dough would not be difficult.
For our Easy Stromboli recipe, I used ham and salami for our meats and I had provolone cheese on hand. I added in some peppers and some onions. The second time I made our homemade Stromboli, I used both provolone and mozzarella cheese. Both variations were so good. I used a jar of pizza sauce for dipping our Stromboli. You could use a Homemade Pizza Sauce if you choose to keep this recipe quick and easy. You will find this recipe so easy to make when using store bought items. Just grab your dough, a few spices, your favorite pizza toppings, roll, season and bake. It is that simple.

Did you sauté the veggies before you put them in the Stromboli?
I’m 60 and single. I began making them this year. Super easy to make AND to reheat. It’s not the cheapest meal but delicious. I’m in Philly and they sell frozen dough balls from an Italian bakery. It takes about 5 to roll out. Next I’m going to try making an Italian roast pork version. Philly is known for cheese steaks but the best sandwich is roast pork with jus, sharp provolone, garlicky broccoli rabe (I make a killer rabe) and banana peppers. Rabe was deeply on sale last week so this week I’m going to give it a go.
