Old Fashioned Chocolate Pie

Old Fashioned Chocolate Pie is a rich and creamy deep dish chocolate pie made with real chocolate chips. Tastes just like Grandma's! So delicious, easy to make, and tastes even better with a little whipped cream topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 cup Milk
  • 4 Egg Yolks
  • 6 1/2 oz Bittersweet Chocolate Chips
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Deep Dish Pie Crust baked and cooled

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk to combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  • Pour in the milk; add the egg yolks; and whisk until blended.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it just starts to boil (about 7-8 minutes).
  • As soon as it reaches a pudding consistency, remove pan from the heat.
  • Quickly add the chocolate chips, butter and vanilla.
  • Stir until the chips are melted and the mixture is blended.
  • Pour the mixture into the prebaked pie crust. Tap pan gently on counter to level.
  • Refrigerate uncovered for at least 4 hours.
  • Serve with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Use a good quality bittersweet chocolate. I used chips but a chopped bittersweet chocolate bar will work too!
