Beans and Weenies

Beans and Weenies is a popular comfort food dish in the Midwest. This hearty meal contains canned beans, diced weenies, and lots of flavor from seasoning and spices. Its simple preparation makes it a go-to for busy weeknights or lazy Sunday dinners.

Ingredients

  • 32 oz Pork and Beans
  • 1 tbs Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 lb Hot Dogs

Instructions

  • Pour beans into a large skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Add mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, Liquid Smoke and brown sugar.
  • Stir until blended.
  • Slice hot dogs into about 1/2 inch slices.
  • Add sliced hot dogs to bean mixture.
  • Cook over medium-low heat until every thing is hot (about 15 minutes).

Notes

Try to slice your hotdogs into similar-sized pieces so that they cook evenly and warm all the way through.
Leftovers – Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container or bowl covered with plastic wrap for 3 – 4 days.
Freezing – You can also freeze leftovers in a freezer safe bag for up to 3 months. I recommend freezing them flat so that they stack well and save space in your freezer.
