This Spiced Baked Apples Recipe is one of my favorites in the fall. I love throwing these together quickly and having them with a nice warm bowl of oatmeal on chilly fall mornings. Apple dishes can get quite pricy if you have not scored a deal on your apples. I have been purchasing all of my apples this past week at Aldi. The produce prices at Aldi are always great. If you are in a pinch and do not have a local produce stand (I miss upstate NY roadside produce stands) or local farm to pick your apples be sure to find them at the best prices by comparing your local grocery store ads. I am hoping to make it to a local farm with the kiddos to snag some fresh picked apples on the cheap in the next few weeks.
Spiced Baked Apples Recipe
Spiced baked apples are great for a side dish, dessert or a yummy breakfast. As I have mentioned in my other apple recipes this past few weeks I love making apple dishes all fall long. Apples are that one fruit that I know most everyone in my household enjoys and will actually eat. If you are looking for a quick and easy Apple Recipe consider throwing together this yummy Spice Baked Apples Recipe.
2 apples (I use Granny Smith)
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon allspice
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons water
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Begin by peeling your apples. Then, slice them in half. Use a small spoon to carve out the inside of the apples, creating a deep ‘bowl’ at the core. Pour the water into an 8”x8” baking dish. Spoon the brown sugar and allspice into the centers of the apples. Sprinkle the top of the apples with the cinnamon. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and drizzle with honey. Serve whole for presentation or chop into smaller pieces if desired. Transfer to a container with a lid and refrigerate to serve cold.
