It’s almost Valentine’s Day and these Valentine Heart Brownies with Marshmallow Filling are so perfect! Just like a hostess cake. I made these sweet little hearts for the kiddos to enjoy this weekend. They loved the Valentine Heart Brownies with Raspberry buttercream Filling I made for them a few weeks ago. I know they love Hostess cakes so I was thinking they would really adore these “love” DIY hostess cakes ha ha! I even dipped them with extra chocolate. I snagged the Heart Mold while shopping at Michael’s (with a coupon, ha ha) a few weeks ago and knew I needed to get a few uses out of this cute mold. Valentine Heart Brownies with Marshmallow Filling
I had quite a few boxed brownie mixes in the pantry and the kids are always begging for Hostess cakes. I love Hostess too but wow, they can be pricey. I figured I would do some baking and see what I could create at home instead of spending too much at the grocery.
1 box Dark Chocolate Fudge brownie Mix
1/3 cup Oil
1/3 cup Water
1 tbsp Milk
12 oz Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
7 oz Marshmallow Cream
1 cup Powdered Sugar
4 tbsp Butter
Prepare brownies according to box directions, but pour into heart shaped silicone mold (slightly overfill) or into lined cupcake tins.
Bake at 350 for approximately 30 minutes (until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean).
Combine marshmallow cream, powdered sugar, vanilla, and softened butter until blended to make filling.
Transfer to piping bag or to zippered bag to use for piping.
Remove top of each to make them flat and level.
Core out a hole in the middle of each, removing brownie.
Pipe in filling.
Melt chocolate chips by microwaving for 30 seconds and then stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.
Dip top of each cake in chocolate and place on rack to cool.
Place rack in refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Transfer remaining filling to a smaller bag and clip very small piece off end in order to write messages on cakes.
The kids were so surprised to find the filling in the middle, just like their Hostess cakes they beg for all of the time, ha ha! I saved a few of these to stash in next weeks lunch bags to surprise them. Yes…. they think they are all gone ha ha!
