Homemade Nilla Wafer Pie Crust

During the summer months, we enjoy pies for dessert often. We love our Strawberry Pie that is like Frisch’s and also our Maraschino Cherry Pie. This summer, I plan to make some of our other favorite pies. I will be sure to share many with you.

Pies are great for potlucks, bbq’s, and picnics. I like to have a summer pie in the fridge to enjoy after our summer grill outs.

Homemade Nilla Wafer Pie Crust- perfect start for so many of your favorite pie fillings. So easy to make!

You will need some Nilla wafers, butter, and sugar. You then can either make this recipe as a no bake or toss it in the oven for just a few minutes. If you make it no bake, you will want to be sure to leave the crust in the freezer long enough to firm up.

INGREDIENTS
8 oz Nilla Vanilla Wafers (about 3/4 of box)
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 stick Butter, melted

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350.
Grease glass 9-10″ pie dish. Set aside.
Pulse wafers in food processor until finely crushed.
Add sugar and pulse.
Add melted butter and pulse until well blended.
Press mixture into bottom and sides of prepared dish.
Bake 5-7 minutes or place in freezer for 1-2 hours.

  1. I want to try this recipe but you never said if when/ after you bake the crust if when you fill it can it be rebaked.

  2. 3 stars
This was such a great idea! I followed the recipe and it was WAY too sweet for a pie crust. Sweeter even than cookies, which makes sense now that I realize adding 1/2 cup to 8 oz cookies would create a super sweet crust… I will try again maybe with 1/8 cup sugar next time. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!

  3. MMM! I’m so excited to try this recipe! Pinning to save it. I love Nilla Wafers, but haven’t ever tried using them as a pie crust. Thanks for sharing this with us at the Home Matters Link Party, hope to see you again next week:) #HomeMattersParty
