This CopyCat Hidden Valley Ranch Mix Recipe is going to save me some $$’s and also some unwanted trips to the grocery. If you are a fan of ranch, you will love this ranch seasoning mix recipe too!  For years I have always been the person who brought the veggie platter to picnics. When pressed for time a veggie tray is so quick and easy to whip up. I never was one to purchase store bought platters as I never really cared for the store ranch dressing they include with the prepackaged platters.

My daughter and I LOVE Hidden Valley Ranch Dip. We are so addicted and we are constantly running low on Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mixes. Dip mixes are one of those items that you never really seem to find a good stock up price. I often find myself making unexpected trips to the grocery just for a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix. Now that I have whipped up this CopyCat Hidden Valley Ranch Mix… that will no longer be the case.

DIY Hidden Valley Ranch Mix is so simple to make and is so much cheaper than purchasing all those over priced envelopes. This homemade ranch seasoning mix will be great for making your favorite dips, dressing and also great for cooking. The flavors were perfect so much so that my daughter did not recognize the difference when I added some mix to the sour cream I had on hand. This mix tastes just like Hidden Valley Ranch.

I’ve made and used my first batch with the accent (msg) included and it stores very nice in my ball mini jars. I’m going to make a large batch and vacuum seal in a quart jar. I can’t justify personally and monetarily paying such high prices for the packets at the store

What happened to the Hidden Valley Ranch envelope for salad dressing? The one where you use a cup of mayonnaise and a cup of milk.
I can’t find it anywhere. Has it been discontinued?

Thanks for posting this. I was using another “taste-alike” recipe but yours nailed it. I was missing the garlic salt, the MSG and the sugar. Anyone with an MSG phobia – don’t. It’s an umami bomb that makes this taste great.

Thanks again for taking the time to post.

  4. I can’t thank you enough for this recipe! I’m living in Africa and I can’t get ranch here, but a few expensive care packages from my family have managed to get my boyfriend addicted to the stuff! Now I can make it at home saving me soooo much money and shipping headaches. I can’t get powdered garlic or onion powder here, so I just use granulated garlic and double the dried onions and it’s perfect! Thank you again!

    1. If you dehydrate..dehydrate garlic slices and onions slices and then grind them and it will so much better than store bought powders..hope this helps.

  5. Thanks for sharing this recipe! I know Hidden Valley Ranch offers packets to mix dressings or dips. I assume there’s a difference in the ingredients… do you know which type you modeled your recipe after? HVR original ranch dressing mix is the only ranch I ever use (I’m a ranch snob!), so I’ve been looking for a copycat recipe forever.

To previous posters asking about what to add, I’ve never made the dip, but I make the dressing all the time. It takes 1 cup of milk (you can use buttermilk or whole milk… I’ve even used skim milk) and 1 cup of mayonnaise. Using those proportions, I think for the dip you could use 2 cups of sour cream or yogurt (regular or Greek).

  6. I to, am wondering about the liquid required. Please respond. The recipe sounds great if we can just get the rest of it.
