Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I am always on the hunt for fun activities in the fall. The cool crisp air, the changing leaves, and the new things to do all add to my enjoyment. I love grabbing the family and heading out for an afternoon of fun when fall arrives. There is always so much to see and enjoy when the season starts to change. The kids get very excited for Halloween. What kid or big kid doesn’t? These are a few of my favorite fun activities for fall for you to consider as we approach this fun time of year.
5 Fun Activities for Fall
One of my favorite things to do is to go apple picking. The apples start to ripen in September and the orchards are a bustle of people. There is always something special about picking your own apples to make all those special fall recipes with. I can never leave with out grabbing some fresh powdered donuts and a couple jugs of cider. Be sure to check out some of my recent Apple Recipes here.
Corn Mazes & Pumpkin Patches
Who can resist a good pumpkin patch? Not me. In addition to the awesome pumpkins, many of the pumpkin patches offer up all kinds of other fun stuff to do as well. Many have small rides for kids, petting zoos, and even haunted houses or corn mazes. My children have always enjoyed their day out to pick out their pumpkins and most of these activities are fairly inexpensive. Before heading out be sure to see How to Pick the Perfect Pumpkin here.
There’s nothing prettier than forest full of trees that are all changing color. Golden yellows, vibrant oranges, and sharp reds with a few still green leaves mixed in creates a gorgeous painting of nature. Pack everybody in the car, and head for the local wooded area and enjoy a nice ride viewing all the wonderful colors fall offers us.
Fall is when football swings back into high gear. Get out and see a game. Not ready to brave the NFL stadiums and crowds or even the college ranks? Check out the local high school team. Tickets are reasonable and they will appreciate the crowd.
Hayrides are one of those things that’s uniquely fall. Generally, someone gets a trailer or a wagon and fills it with bales of hay. People pile in, and off you go on a ride. This can be lots of fun and is a great date night activity. Many times you find hayrides in conjunction with apple picking or pumpkin patches.
